The world is full of mazes for Marie-Laure, who has been blind since she was six-years-old. Her father makes her a miniature Parisian neighborhood so she can learn the way home. Hidden within a miniature building is an invaluable diamond entrusted to her father to guard in The Museum of Natural History. When the Nazis invade Paris, Marie and her father take refuge and stay with family in a city walled by the sea. Werner is a german orphan who is destined to work in the mines until one day he finds a broken radio and finds he has a talent for fixing things. Suddenly he is brought to the attention of the Hitler Youth.
